Right Age for Orthodontics

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that a child first be seen by an orthodontist as early as age seven (7) - or even earlier if a problem is discovered by a parent or the family dentist.  The timing of orthodontic treatment is extremely important and greatly affects the treatment result.  Since no two patients are alike, there is no specific age that is best to begin treatment.  Typically, full treatment is started when all of the permanent teeth have erupted.  Early diagnosis and treatment of orthodontic problems by Dr. Allen may help guide facial growth and tooth eruption, preventing more serious problems from developing.  Our goal is to reduce treatment time in full braces and provide the best and most stable results possible.
